Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong and Uganda's Ministry of Tourism official James Mboyijana were among the guests who joined together to eyeball the dragon boat before the start of the race. Zhang Lizhong said the race embodies respect and tolerance for different civilizations and the spirit of mutual benefit and win-win. Mboyijana said the dragon boat race is a very joyful and harmonious exchange activity that further consolidates the ties between Ugandans and the local Chinese community.
On the boat, Chinese and Ugandan team members worked together and paddled side by side; on the shore, overseas Chinese, local residents and spectators from different countries cheered for the participating teams, enjoying this event that combines traditional culture and sports competition. In the cultural exhibition area set up by the lake, African traditional dances and Chinese food attracted many audiences to stop and experience.
